Birch Bay man arrested after manhunt
A manhunt for a suspected arsonist and convicted puppy mill owner brought SWAT personnel and TV station helicopters to Birch Bay last week, but the ordeal ended peacefully when Kenneth Martin Cassell was apprehended in Bellingham.

Girls headed to state second year in a row
In what Blaine hoops fan John Liebert called their best game so far this season, the girls basketball team outscored the Eatonville Cruisers 56-33 and earned a trip to the regional tournament.
Wrestlers take eighth at state tournament
When all the dust had settled in the Tacoma Dome, Blaine had finished eighth out of 53 1A teams at the 25th Mat Classic February 15-16, with a team score of 56 points and three wrestlers making it to Saturday's medal rounds.
