Letters to the Editor
Swing time!
The Editor:
It's that time of year, time for an evening of jazz to benefit
the Fine Arts programs in our schools. Arts and Jazz will
swing the Blaine middle school cafeteria February 2.
This
the Blaine Fine Arts Association primary fund raising event
for arts scholarships and equipment. Funds raised also enable
us to send students to adjudicated events, workshops and
mentorship programs like Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, High
School Chorus with the Vancouver Symphony, Puyallup Fair
Art Show, Fine Arts classes and camps.
The
award winning Blaine high school jazz band and the swing
choir will perform in three sets. There will be dancing
throughout the evening to the big band sound with classic
jazz tunes like "In the Mood", "Take the
A Train" and many more. There will be live and silent
auctions and an hors d'oeuvres buffet. Come join the community
celebration with good tunes, good food, and good auction
items. A fun time for ALL!
If
you have any questions or have auction items to donate please
contact Dorita Gray(auction) 380-1634 or Nancy Hamburg(tickets/information)
332-8226. The event starts at 7 p.m. and admission is $5.
