Bring on the brass
by Meg Olson
Some of the best of Canadas regimental brass will march into the Performing Arts Center this weekend in support of the Peace Arch Park international sculpture exhibition.
The Royal Canadian Artillery Band of the 15th Field Artillery Regiment chose to support the exhibition, organized by U.S./Canada Peace Anniversary Association, with proceeds from the Blaine performance.
The 50-member band will play rousing marches, punctuated by a black light display by the corps of drums and highland favorites with the 6th Field Engineer Squadron.
As a preview of the exhibition the concert is helping support, Bellingham sculptor Mary Kubelbecks Roosters, will be on display.
At the programs intermission there will be a farewell to Mayor John Hobberlin and his wife Nancy in recognition of their contributions to the community. John has been a great representative to our city, especially as he meets with government officials regarding cross-border issues, said event organizer Christina Alexander. The Hobberlins are relocating to Florida at the end of March.
