Police ask for assistance in theft
Blaine
police are asking for the publics help finding the
thief who stole specialized fishing equipment from a local
web locker.
Local fisher Danny Thomas had stored several plastic tool
boxes in his locker off the sawtooth dock on the evening
of July 2, intending to load them onto his boat later that
week. When he returned the following morning, the boxes
were gone.
It must have been someone who saw him put it in there,
said Blaine police detective Doug Balmer. Most of
those lockers just contain nets. Balmer said that,
while the door of the locker was locked, the thief may still
have gained access by forcing open a section of the door.
The three plastic toolboxes contained electrical connections
and assorted fittings and tools. These were specialized
tools unique to the fishing industry, Balmer said.
Its things hes acquired over the years
to maintain his boat. He added that Thomas did not
have insurance to cover the $2,000 loss. Hes
just out and its really going to hurt him this year,
he said.
Balmer asked that anyone who may have seen any suspicious
activity, people or vehicles near the sawtooth dock at Blaine
Harbor to contact him at the police station..
