Rainbows and art and food and entertainment...
By Pat Grubb
Its
fantastic! Theres art, theres music, theres
entertainment, theres food! Walk, take a bike, take
a trike dont miss it!
That, in a nutshell, is why International Art Festival organizer
Christina Alexander thinks everyone should visit Peace Arch
Park this weekend. Nutshells being relatively small, of
course, there are plenty of other reasons to show up to
see whats happening during the festival.
Perhaps the most unusual will be the creation of a natural
rainbow for the opening in support of World Peace and Global
Unity. The rainbow will appear magically in the air courtesy
of the Blaine fire department. A second rainbow will be
created at Semiahmoo Marina on Saturday to celebrate the
revitalization of Blaine Harbor.
The rainbows are the work of Dr. Fred Stern who has traveled
the world creating the multi-hued expressions of beauty.
Stern will be available to talk about his work at his photo
exhibit Rainbows Around The World on Saturday
from 1 3 p.m.
During the ceremony, the North Cascade Concert Band will
salute the making of the rainbow by performing Im
Always Chasing Rainbows with a vocal solo by Christina
Alexander.
The festival includes entertainment by a variety of performers,
fine arts show and sale, artists in action, free childrens
activities, good food and more. Hours are 2 8 p.m.
on Friday and 10 a.m. 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday..
