Fire
13 budget includes tax freeze
Fire District 13 commissioners will conduct a public work
session at 7 p.m. November 8 at the Inn at Resort Semiahmoo
to review next years 1.2 million dollar operations
budget. The meeting is open to the public though no comments
will be taken as no formal approval is anticipated.
State law requires budget approval by November 15, but formal
hearings are not required since no increases in the property
tax rate are planned. Chief Mike Campbell attributed the
freeze to continued growth leading to increased tax revenues
in the district. Weve not had an increase for
several years, Campbell said.
Commissioners will meet again within the week to formally
approve the budget, and the date, time and place will be
available from district 13 office at 371-2533 as well as
posted at all district 13 stations and on the reader board
at the Birch Bay station on Birch Bay-Lynden Road.
