School offering snow programs
The
Blaine school district ski/snowboard program is looking
forward to a great 2002 ski season. The district is excited
to offer this program in conjunction with the Mt. Baker
ski area. This is an opportunity for Blaine students to
take advantage of the winter recreation possibilities right
in our back yard. The program is offered for grades five
through 12. The program offers transportation, lessons (optional),
and equipment rental (optional).
Classes will be held on four consecutive Saturdays. The
four lessons are two hours long; the rest of the day the
students ski/snowboard on their own.
The Mt. Baker ski area staff and instructors are professional,
experienced, and many are nationally certified. Their main
goal for the district ski/snowboard program is to provide
a safe, fun, and meaningful experience for students on the
mountain. (The school district requires students who have
not been snow boarding or skiing, take lessons this
is for the students safety.)
This year Mt. Baker has worked with our district to customize
our ski/snowboard program. We will be running the bus in
March for four Saturdays. Here is the schedule for this
years ski/snowboard program: March 2, 9, 16, 23. Departing
from Blaine high school parking lot at 6 a.m. It is best
to be there by 5:50 a.m. The bus will arrive back at the
high school at 5:30 p.m. The student will need to make arrangements
to be picked up at that time.
