First day of school for kindergartners

A kindergarten parent orientation meeting is scheduled for April 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Blaine primary school multipurpose room. Children who will be five-years-old on or before August 31, 2002 are eligible to enter kindergarten in the fall. Parents will have the opportunity to enroll their child for the 2002-2003 school year.

A copy of the child’s birth certificate is required for proof of age. Washington state law also requires proof of immunization status. Parents will meet staff members and the kindergarten teachers to discuss classroom policies, transportation and the kindergarten program. There will be an opportunity for parents to ask questions regarding kindergarten. The school encourages parents to pre-register children from April 18 through June 21 for the fall enrollment.

Preschoolers who will be entering kindergarten are invited to visit the kindergarten classrooms on April 25 from 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. The kindergarten teachers will read the children a story and talk to them about some of the activities they will be doing next year. .
