Council Action
At their May 28 meeting council gave their support to a
policy change under which the city would waive extra power
costs due if a city error was responsible for a customer
paying too little for their power bills. On the other hand,
if it was because of inaccurate or incomplete information
from the customer, they were responsible for up to three
years of back charges.
I think this is more customer friendly, said
city finance director Meredith Riley, adding there had been
unhappiness with the citys previous practice of back-billing
any customer if an audit turned up a mistake in previous
bills.
