Local life on the water just got easier, care of the new Blaine Marine Services business at 9540 Semiahmoo Parkway. Complete with all of your essential boating needs, this store provides you with most of lifes extras and then some, making this a one-stop-boating shop.

Saturday will mark the grand opening of the second Blaine Marine Services location in Blaine. It will be a fun day. Weve got a big sale going on at both locations, said Bob Brooks, the owner. And we will have demonstrations throughout the day.

For the last three years, the first Blaine Marine Services has been operating on Marine Drive. The two locations work really well together and there are more than 20 people on staff now, said Brooks, adding that the stores offer different services to customers. The Semiahmoo location, for example, is capable of hauling and lifting boats that are 55 feet in length.

This store is doing very well, Brooks said. We are really pleased with the support were getting.

In addition to boating services, this store is stocked with groceries and recreational opportunities. Books and frames, huggies and windex, kayaks and roller blades, fleeces and coffee, frozen burritos and bottles of wine line the shelves of the store.

We plan on expanding a lot of the store, and in the groceries end of it youll see a lot more, said Susan Brooks. Weve got local wines from Mount Baker Vineyards as well as Barbs Pastries, which are made by a local woman.

Located next to Semiahmoo Resort and Windermere, Blaine Marine Services will be running the recreational end of things for the Resort. The Resorts been very cooperative and we are working to make this a destination, Susan Brooks said.

In a first for a Blaine business, the store offers kayak, bike and roller blade rentals to the general public and those staying at Semiahmoo Resort. The kayaks and bikes come in all sizes, and are available for single or double use. There are also plans for bringing in rowboats and other recreational items. And of course we have boats for sale, Brooks said, smiling. Lots of boats.

Store hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, and Fridays will have extended summer hours through 8 p.m. For further store information, or to make a rental, call 371-5700.
