Couple robbed, suspects sketch released

The Whatcom County Sheriffs office is seeking public assistance with the investigation into the home-invasion style armed robbery of two elderly victims at their residence in the Birch Bay area.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-twenties, approximately 5-foot-9-inches and 160 pounds, with blonde hair and short facial hair.

According to Jeff Parks, the chief criminal deputy, the suspect is believed to have come to the door of the victims residence in the morning hours of May 12 and asked to use the telephone because of car trouble. When the victim returned to the door with a phone the suspect brandished a handgun and forced the victim back into the house.

A second suspect, who was wearing a hooded, gray sweatshirt, then followed the initial suspect and victim into the residence. He is described as a white male, 5-foot-8-inches, weighing 220-250 pounds.

The suspects may have fled the area in a small, newer white sedan with a black soft top. Taken during the robbery were personal items, camera equipment, coins and jewelry. Anyone with information should call the sheriffs office at 676-6650.
