Blaine Force Gray, Black start up the season

Blaine Force Gray dropped the season opener in the Whatcom County girls softball league on Wednesday, June 18 against Boundary Bay of Bellingham high school.

Blaine scored four runs in the first inning on triples by Valerie Binder and Hannah Steinbach. The Grays also scored two runs in the second inning and one in the third to take a 7-3 lead into the last inning, but couldn�t hold on committing three errors. Boundary Bay then took the lead scoring five runs to take an 8-7 victory.

Force Gray is made of mainly Blaine freshmen and sophomores. The next games are scheduled for July 1 at 7 and 8:45 at Lynden�s Bender Road Complex.

Blaine Force Black had a little better outing in their debut beating SSK out of Lynden 6-3 and losing to Nooksack 7-6. Force Black had nine hits against SSK. Kaylyn Bird, Lacy Chatwood and Nicole Riddle each had two hits. Blaine�s big inning was when they scored five runs.

Despite getting 11 hits, Force Black was also not able to hold on to the 6-3 lead going into the last inning, giving up four runs on two hits, a walk, and committed two errors, losing the game 7-6.

Force Black�s next games are on Thursday, June 26, at 7 and 8:45 at the Bender Road Complex.
