Pursuit of American Dream has clean finish

It was the dream, the American dream of owning your own business, said Chad Lehn.

To build their dream business he and wife Shilo chose 300 degree water vapor that can safely clean and sanitize any hard surface. Their Birch Bay company, VaporClean, started February 1 cleaning windows, tile floors and stainless steel restaurant kitchens. Using specialized Italian equipment the two spray a fine very hot vapor at the surface they are cleaning. It comes out of the nozzle like smoke, Lehn said. The heat of the vapor kills bacteria and melts away dirt, mildew and mold.

Initially I thought commercial was where youd make your money, but residential seems to be where its at, Lehn said, especially among homeowners with tile floors and bathrooms. Some people are really surprised at how much dirt is in their tile. It comes out a different color, he said.

The Lehns will demonstrate their VaporClean process this weekend at the Home Show and Garden Walk at the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds in Lynden, or people can call them at 371-5166 for more information or to book an appointment.

The home show will also feature other local businesses from Birch Bay, such as Hemplers Sausage and Dyches Family Chiropractic, as well as local nursery Firewind Farm. The show runs March 5 and 6 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and March 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
