New building receives rave reviews

“They put a lot of thought into this new building, and it shows,” said Cindy Coleman, office manager for Alan Finston’s Whatcom Physical Therapy and Fitness. The business moved into new quarters on G Street two weeks ago and has begun treating patients there. The 5,000-plus square foot facility replaces their former quarters at 399 H Street which they opened in July of 1997.

Finston, a Palo Alto native and Whitman College graduate, and his wife Joni, who grew up in Idaho Falls, first came to the northwest in 1993 “on a lark,” she said, and ended up staying when Alan was hired by Greg Helgath, a physical therapist with offices in Birch Bay and Lynden.
Two years later they joined Bellingham physical therapist Terry Busch, and three years after that, in looking for a spot to open their own practice, “we looked at each other and said, what about Blaine? So here we are, and we love it,” Joni Finston said.

The Finstons have two children, 17-month-old Isabel and five-year-old Jacob, who helped his dad cut the ribbon to open the new office in front of about 75 friends and families.

Blaine’s Kyle Quist was the construction supervisor for the new building and the Finstons said they were happy with his attention to detail and thoroughness. The facility at 250 G Street has seven treatment rooms on one wing surrounding a larger therapy space, and an exercise studio in the other. The phone number remains 332-8167.
