Boardwalk festival begins this Saturday
The first annual Blaine Boardwalk Festival is set for this Saturday, August 12, and as of last weekend all available vendor spaces were taken.
Co-sponsored by the city of Blaine and the Blaine Chamber of Commerce, the fair also includes sidewalk sales being conducted by at least seven local merchants, some of whom, like Laura’s Treasure Chest on Marine Drive, will move in to set up on Peace Portal Drive for the day.
Northern Meadows owner Christy Lonquist said that the event is being planned as a family fun day and will include kid’s attractions like a bounce house, face painting and games. Mary Lee Hill has organized a motorcycle show and shine and Glenn Tuski is coordinating live music. Registration for the next day’s Tri Without Borders triathlon will be in one of the festival booths.
All this will take place on both boardwalk plazas and on the street in between them, plus the west end of H Street. The festival begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. For more information call 332-6484.
