Blaine Chamber of Commerce
This
past year has been very exciting, as we have seen the completion of
two major projects in Blaine - the two boardwalk plazas and the installation
of the Vigil sculpture.
We hosted our 6th Annual Bite of Blaine in February. Folks attending
this event had the opportunity to sample “bites” as prepared
by our local restaurants and food service organizations.
This event serves as the chamber’s annual dinner, but is also our
major fundraiser for the Fourth of July fireworks.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the restaurants who graciously
volunteered their time, services and food for this event.
Our Old Fashioned 4th of July was the most successful celebration we
have had by far!
It was a jam-packed day that included a pancake breakfast, parade, car
show and shine, street fair, live music, community theater, food, food
and more food, with the grand finale being the fireworks display over
Marine Park.
December 1 was our Christmas Lighting and Winter Wonderland celebration – we
had a terrific turnout.
There was singing of carols, art projects for the kids and downtown businesses
served warm cider, mulled wine, popcorn & other goodies. Santa and
Mrs. Claus arrived in Blaine on an antique fire truck.
Downtown businesses participated in a snow man competition. Blaine truly
was a Winter Wonderland.
We reintroduced our chamber mixers in September and had three events
through December. We hope to continue these into 2007 as they are a valuable
way for businesses people to network with each other.
On behalf of the chamber board, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude
to the city of Blaine, the police department, the Fire department and
our many volunteers.
Without your help, these events would not be the successes they are.
All the best for 2007!
