Noted gospel choir to visit Blaine

By Tara Nelson

One of the nation’s best-known gospel singers and choirs will be visiting Blaine Saturday June 23, for a performance featuring the Total Experience Gospel Choir.

Pastor Patrinell Wright, a Seattle native who founded the choir in 1973, was most recently featured singing “Glory Glory” in the movie Because of Winn Dixie and, in recent years, her group has spawned three American Idol contestants including Sanjaya, who have made it to the Fox TV show.

The Total Experience Gospel Choir will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 23 at the PAC at 975 H Street in Blaine. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for students. Those interested in performing with the group are invited to a choir workshop with pastor Wright from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Blaine Performing Arts Center (PAC), earlier that day. Cost of the workshop is $45 for adults and $35 for students. No experience is necessary. Advanced tickets can also be purchased at the Blackberry House café at 321 H Street or at the Blaine Visitor Information Center at 728 Peace Portal Drive.
