Public hearing set on developer fee deferral
Blaine City Council, in their regular meeting Monday, voted 6-0 to schedule
a public hearing to discuss a possible amendment that would allow city
officials to defer some initial fees for developments.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday, August 27 at Blaine city

County firefighters to ‘fill
the boot’ for Muscular Dystrophy
Members of Northwest Whatcom Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 3867
will be conducting their annual “Fill the Boot” fundraiser
to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).at a new location
this year.
On Friday August 17, volunteers will be at the intersection of Guide Meridian and Birch Bay-Lynden Road from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. asking you to donate or drop change into their fire boots.

Workshop teaches
coping skills, sympathy for mentally ill
The National Alliance on Mental Illness is hosting a free 12-week
course for family and friends of individuals with mental illness.
Their next class begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 4.
Organizers will present current information about schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, borderline personality disorder, co-occurring addictive disorders and others.
