WWU study to examine border perceptions

By Pat Grubb

What do you think about security at the Canada/U.S. border?

A Western Washington University research project is underway that seeks to investigate citizens’ perceptions of border security. “We are seeking volunteers to participate in meetings during which they will complete a short questionnaire and discuss their views with other participants,” according to George Cvetkovich, interim director of the Center for Cross Cultural Research. In total, participants should expect to spend about an hour on the questionnaire and discussion.

Topics will include the effectiveness of border security, how border security affects people’s personal border crossings and businesses, their trust in border management, and suggestions for border security policies. Collected information will be shared with border security officials, participants, and through professional journals.
