Drayton Harbor Road repairs begin
Whatcom County public works crews will begin long-awaited road repairs on Drayton Harbor Road this week between Shintaffer and Harborview Roads.
The county has awarded the contract for repair to Ram Construction Company.
Dependent on weather delays, public works officials say they hope to open Drayton Harbor Road by spring of 2008.
The repair of the roadway will require extensive work on the beach, within the normal daily tide levels.
Unfortunately, delays in environmental
permitting prevented this work from starting during the
summer months, when low tides are available during daytime
hours. Therefore,
night work will be required during December and early January
to take advantage of low tide conditions.
Residents should expect some noise disturbance from equipment
operating on the roadway, and light disturbance from portable
light plants.
