Young at Heart

By JoAn Newby

We at the Blaine Senior Center were deeply saddened by the passing of Toni Peller after her courageous battle with cancer. Toni will be deeply missed, for she was everybody’s friend.

Toni had a wonderful appreciation for life and inspired all who knew her. She was a very much active activity director and appreciated member of the Senior Center staff for many years. The center has been greatly influenced by her wonderful appreciation for life and for the needs of others. She contributed largely to the warm, welcoming atmosphere that is characteristic of our center.

Her interest in life and keen sense of humor was often revealed in articles and stories she wrote and told. Especially memorable are her Bits and Pieces articles and her young at heart attitude.

She was deeply loved for she befriended everyone. Although she will be missed she will never be forgotten for she holds a special place in our memories. She has enriched our lives with her love of God, of life, and of others. We will always remember her magnificent personality, her cheerful and loving disposition, and her friendly words and hugs. Her memory will live on forever in our hearts, as we strive to continue her example of loving and encouraging others.

The center will be celebrating her life on Thursday, March 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. Come, visit the center, which has been recently renovated, and share with us your memories or pictures of Toni, and let us celebrate with food and thanksgiving, a very special life, one that will be sorely missed but one that has inspired us to care more deeply for our own lives and for others.
