Discovery Day spots still available
The Birch Bay Chamber is still looking for parade participants for its 29th Annual Birch Bay Discovery Days arts and crafts festival July 19 and 20.
The parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. beginning at the C-Shop at the corner of Alderson Road and will proceed north on Birch Bay Drive ending at the intersection of Harborview Road in front of Bay Center Market.
Lisa Guthrie, resort development director for Homestead Northwest and chair of the Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce’s Discovery Days committee, said more than 50 arts, crafts and food vendors have already signed up for the festival immediately following the parade at 7878 Birch Bay Drive, in front of the Sea Links Golf Course next to CJ’s Beach House restaurant.
Free music in the park
The Tacoma-based 133rd Army Band has scheduled a free concert at Blaine Marine Park for 6 p.m. Saturday, July 12.
The band is based in Camp Murray in Tacoma and performs for both military and public events. It is the only band for the Washington Army National Guard.
Attendants are welcome to bring their own picnics, chairs and blankets.
