Council awards street contracts

Blaine City Council voted to award a $1.7 million bid to Colacurcio Brothers Construction Company, for two major street reconstruction projects.
The projects will widen and repave portions of Boblett Street from Mitchell to Peace Portal and Clark Street from Peace Portal to Third Street.
In a separate vote, council also awarded a contract for construction management services to the firm of Reichhardt and Ebe Engineering.
Blaine public works director Steve Banham said the project, originally estimated to cost $1.75 million to $2.25 million, was designed by Perteet, Inc., and includes street resurfacing as well as curb, gutter and sidewalk, landscaping and utility improvements.
Perteet, Inc. was selected in 2007 to provide engineering designs for the City’s 2007-2016 Street Improvement Program.
Banham said construction on the projects is expected to begin by the end of August.
