Young At Heart
By Joan Newby
The Blaine Senior Center had a very successful Arts & Craft Show, with the wonderful sound and sights which accompanies the Christmas Holiday Season. There was an abundance of arts and crafts displayed, and a wonderful cookie walk, where one could feast on homemade cookies.
The wonder of the season continues with activities and entertainment such as those wonderful Semiahmoo Kids Kamp children performing Wednesday, December 10 and the very popular men’s Norwegian Chorus on Thursday, December 18. These special choirs are so enjoyable. Absolutely nobody should miss them.
Stretch exercises at 9:30 continue at the center on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings. Bible Study with a video study of the Book of Daniel continues at 10:30 Tuesdays mornings. Painting class is in the afternoons until the 15 when it will close for the holidays. The center has a very active and enjoyable painting class, with many new members creating works of art.
China painting meets at 9 a.m. Wednesdays and a highly successful writing class meets at 10 a.m. Pinochle and other table games are played in Wednesday afternoons, and an easy Yoga class meets at 3, with the exception of December 31. Blood pressures checks are offered by the friendly fire department on Thursday mornings and bridge is played Thursday afternoons. Wednesday evenings have been designated Pinochle night from 6 to 9 p.m.
Bible study of various people of the Bible meets at 10:30 a.m. Friday. A friendly meeting with crafts creating and tea time is at 1 p.m. Friday.
The center will be closed Christmas eve, Christmas, and Kwanzaa. Plans are in the making for a Christmas potluck on Christmas day.
