Plant your live Christmas tree
Residents looking for an environmentally friendly way to dispose of their Christmas tree may want to consider donating it for planting.
The Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association and the Chums of Terrell Creek will be available from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, January 10 to accept live Christmas trees for planting.
The trees will help strengthen the salmon habitat by creating clean air and holding soil in place that could otherwise wash into streams and rivers, suffocating salmon and their fry.
Individuals can bring their Christmas trees to the salmon habitat restoration site on Jackson Road in Birch Bay to be planted along the banks of Whatcom County creeks.
For more information on donating your live Christmas tree, call or email Lindsay Taylor at 715-0283 x112 or email@example.com.
