Scott Ellis to serve as principal

Blaine high school vice-principal Scott Ellis will take over as interim principal January 15 following action by the Blaine school board after they accepted the resignation of principal Dan Newell.

Newell has been hired by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in Olympia and will be working with and traveling to high schools all over the state. Blaine superintendent Ron Spanjer has asked Newell to return to Blaine on Fridays through February to help with the transition. The board expects to have a permanent replacement hired by the end of March.

“Scott Ellis is a well respected and highly dedicated leader in the Blaine school district,” said Spanjer in a prepared statement.
“The staff and students will be well served with Scott in the principal’s chair for the remainder of this school year.”
