The Blaine Senior Center wishes to thank the wonderful support of the community for last month’s rummage sale. Your help is much appreciated.

Look forward to a merry May, be happy and merry regardless of outside weather, remember lovely spring and summer days are on their way. That’s because it is the merry, merry month of May.

Mother’s Day is celebrated at the Blaine Senior Center, May 6 with a special brunch and a Mother’s Day sing-along. The Senior Center writing class is busy writing memories of mom, your own pictures and memories are welcome.

The Saturday pancakes, waffles, or biscuit and gravy breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on May 16. This is a great opportunity to bring your entire family and enjoy a wonderful breakfast while meeting friends and supporting the center.

New strength training class will start in July. There is a one-time fee of $60, due the first day of class. The classes will be from 2 to 3 p.m. or 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Many seniors do not get enough exercise, here is a fun and healthful way to obtain more and also improve health and well-being.

The great game of Bocce will be starting, weather permitting, right after Dolly’s stretch class. Beginning Tai Chi is at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays. Writing class is at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. There is a blood pressure check Thursday mornings. Crafts and Tea time is on Fridays at 1 p.m. There are many table games available throughout the day.

Plan to meet on Wednesday morning, May 13 at 10:30 a.m. to help make plans for the walking group. Would you like to walk in the local area with friends? Sign up at the front desk or call in and let us know about you.

Everybody is invited to attend the celebration of life of Lili Paul, Saturday, May 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the afternoon. Lili had many friends in the community; let’s celebrate her life.

The AARP driving class will be on Friday, May 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, August 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, December 11, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The election of board members will be on Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8. You must be ca current member to vote. See the nominees’ names and photos in the dining room area.

There are many opportunities for volunteers at the center. A few are, the pancake breakfast events, pie baking, volunteering for Fourth of July events, dishwashing, setup and cleanup before and after lunch. See you there.
