The American Legion Adjutant Post 247 has planned a series of events to commemorate those killed in action on Memorial Day this weekend. Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, veterans groups and citizens will place American flags on every veteran's grave in the Blaine Cemetery. Some one will be on hand with a cemetery plot plan for those looking for graves or to be advised of graves the legion may have missed in the past. The following day, Sunday at 7:30 p.m., veterans will hold a candlelight service at the Blaine Cemetery that will burn overnight. Everyone is invited to attend. Then, on Monday, the VFW 9474 Post in Custer and the American Legion Post 86 and Post 247 will honor those laid to rest beginning at 11 a.m. at Veterans' Park at the corner of Third and H streets and moving to a full service at Hillsdale Cemetery on Blaine Road. Refreshments will be served after completion of all services.
