As the season for harbor seal pups arrives, officials with the Marine Mammal Stranding Network are advising individuals that it is illegal to have any contact or harass a stranded marine mammal.

Seal pups found on the beach are likely not abandoned and individuals should keep themselves and their pets at a distance of at least 50 yards. To contact the MMSN or to report a stranded marine mammal, call 966-8845.
