A group of local businesses along with the Blaine Chamber of Commerce has organized their second annual holiday cookie baking contest. Residents of Blaine, Birch Bay and Point Roberts are invited to bring a plate of at least six of their favorite homemade cookies to the Seaside Bakery on Peace Portal Drive in Blaine at 2 p.m. December 3.
Judges there will determine the winning recipe, which will be featured as “cookie of the year.” The creator of the winning recipe will receive a prize basket donated by members of the Blaine Chamber of Commerce and the recipe will be printed in The Northern Light and included in a holiday cookbook. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Blaine Food Bank.
The recipe must be an original created by the baker or family member of the baker and cannot be borrowed from other cookbooks. The baker must agree to the recipe being printed in the newspaper and allow Seaside Bakery to sell cookies made from the recipe. For more info, call 332-8082.
