Two national reports have found that Blaine high school is one of the best high schools in the nation.
In a December 2009 survey of over 20,000 of the nation’s high schools in 49 states, U.S. News and World Reports gave Blaine a silver medal. There were only 461 silver medal schools identified and 100 gold medal schools. These schools were selected based on their preparation of students for college level material and overall educational excellence, based on state test performance for all students, test performance for the groups considered the least advantaged (black Hispanic and low-income students) and advanced placement tests.
Blaine was previously identified as a top school by Newsweek magazine. In June 2009 Blaine made their list for the third year in a row, placing 975 out of the top 1,500 schools nationwide. In 2008 Blaine was 732 on a list of the 1,300 best schools, up a notch from 744th place in 2007.
