From now until March 6, Birch Bay Consignment and Thrift along with Birch Bay Hair Care are co-sponsoring a community food drive and free raffle. Donations of non-perishable, unexpired food  to Birch Bay Consignment and Thrift will get a chance to win a $50 store gift certificate. At Birch Bay Hair Care, those donating food become eligible to win a haircut and color or a haircut and perm. In addition, the consignment store has created an additional source of support. Owner Pat Brush explains a Birch Bay Food Pantry Consignor Account has been created. The proceeds generated by consigning to this account will go directly to the Food Pantry every month allowing for another source of money for grocery purchases. Citing customer feedback, Brush believes that customers also want to be part of an ongoing community effort. “As a new business, the community has supported us. We feel strongly about supporting the community.”

Both businesses are located in the Terrell Creek Landing at 4819 Alderson Road, just before the “C” Shop. Raffle winners will be announced at 5 p.m. on March 6 and do not need to be present. The Birch Bay Food Pantry's next distribution date is March 1 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Those wishing to volunteer or to make a donation outside of this event can contact Lynne Chapman at 371-3070.
