Citing a significant drop in sales and lack of customer parking, Blaine Subway owner Dale Schrader said Wednesday he would be closing his store at 429 Peace Portal Drive until work crews complete construction of two roundabouts.
“Our sales have been lousy – less than half of my sales before the construction began,” he said. “Our labor costs are running over half of our sales in a day, you can’t operate a restaurant like that.”
Schrader said while business at his Peace Portal Drive store is down, business at his other store at 1733 H Street has increased.
In the meantime, he said that his employees will be able to pick up shifts at other Subway stores in the area. Schrader said his other store at 1733 H Street is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday. That store can be reached by calling 332-2270.
