Blaine residents will soon be able to enjoy viewing birds from new covered shelters in Marine Park.
Blaine City Council recently approved a parks department proposal for the construction of two bird viewing and picnic shelters in Marine Park, as well as restoration and stormwater improvements.
The council awarded the $48,000 construction contract to Roosenthal-Honcoop Construction.
Funding for the project was indicated in the 2010 parks capital improvement plan in the amount of $55,000. In addition, $25,000 of that cost will be reimbursed through a grant from the Northwest Park & Recreation District 2. The remaining funds will be available for associated costs such as engineering, design and miscellaneous expenses. The low bid was submitted by Roosendahl-Honcoop Construction.
