A 55-year-old Blaine man was arrested after allegedly holding a gun to his wife’s head and threatening to shoot her.
Whatcom County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at about 6 p.m. Monday, May 24, in the 3400 block of H Street Road from a woman who said her husband was pointing a gun at her head during an argument.

Deputy Kevin Moyes said the couple was proceeding with a divorce and the husband allegedly threatened to shoot his wife if she hired an attorney to represent her.

The woman was able to escape and flee to a residence down the road where she was able to call 911.

Sheriff’s deputies, assisted by U.S. Border Patrol officers and Blaine police officers, formed a perimeter around the residence and made a phone call into the house.

Barton Prentiss was arrested and booked into Whatcom County jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and domestic violence.

Several weapons, including rifles, handguns and shotguns were seized from the residence as evidence.
