Habitat For Humanity will hold its 8th annual Raise The Roof fundraising dinner and auction starting at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 at the Lakeway Inn in Bellingham with the help of local insole manufacturer Superfeet Worldwide.
Board president Tiffany Bergsma-Evans said six local families will contribute 500 hours of sweat equity to qualify for a Habitat For Humanity home this year.
“This means we will have to increase our fundraising efforts by 50 percent just to keep up with this economy,” she said. “This last year we only planned to build four homes. The need increases but the resources become scarcer and scarcer.”
The auction features large-ticket items such as a week-long stay in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and airfare packages. Local prizes include a weekend stay and spa treatment at the Chrysalis Inn and a picnic cruise to San Juan islands. Local realtor Mike Kent and Blaine city manager Gary Tomsic will auctioneer.
Dinner and auction tickets are $75 per person with $40 from each ticket going directly to the organization.
Auction items include rounds of golf with cart rental, an ocean kayak and picnic package and a week’s stay in Port Townsend.
