Those who are looking for a way to explore Whatcom Countyâs shorelines will want to attend an educational event at Birch Bay State Park on low tide days during the next few weeks.
Volunteer beach naturalists from RE Sources for Sustainable Communities will be on the beach from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, August 8, to talk to beachgoers about sea creatures at low tide and can help find crabs, clams and other critters.Â
The event is free and all ages are welcome.
Attendees should meet in the large field in Birch Bay State Park on Birch Bay Drive, near the public bathrooms north of the intersection of Helweg Road and Birch Bay Drive.
The event is sponsored by the Marine Resources Committee.
