The city of Blaine has scheduled a ribbon cutting ceremony for the re-opening of the skate park behind city hall. The ceremony is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, August 9 and will showcase the park's new TruRide steel skate park equipment.
Blaine city council approved a $19,000 contract with California skateboard equipment manufacturer Spohn Ranch in May.
The city budgeted $20,000 for a modular ramp system as part of its 2010
park and cemetery capital improvement plan.
The new equipment
includes a series of their TruRide modular steel ramps, a quarter pipe, a
centered deck, a ramp system with stairs, grind rail and a bench. The
equipment is made from powder-coated, galvanized steel, which is highly
resistant to wear from weather and general use.
