Those with animals that haven’t been fixed will want to take advantage of a free and low-cost spay and neutering event in Blaine next week.

The Whatcom Education, Spay & Neuter Impact Program (WeSNIP) will be offering free spaying and neutering for dogs and cats of low-income pet owners who have proof of public assistance and low-cost surgeries for all others through their mobile veterinary clinic, The Spay Station. The mobile clinic will be parked at Toad’s Texaco, located in Blaine and Birch Bay-Lynden roads in Birch Bay, Wednesday and Thursday, August 18 and 19. It is operated by professional, local veterinary doctors and their staff.

WeSNIP officials said they fixed more than 5,000 pets owned by low-income residents in Whatcom County during their first year.

The agency said it will offer other dates in various Whatcom County locations for those unable to attend. For a complete list of dates or for more information, visit www.WeSNIP.org or call 733-6549.
