As the Blaine School District starts classes on Wednesday, September 1, the Blaine Family Services Center will begin handing out school supplies to students and families in need of assistance.
Director Larissa Dhanani said the organization helped more than 150 students last year during the first few days of school. She said she anticipates at least an equal or greater need this year given the current economic climate.
The center will distribute supplies from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 31.
Those who would like to donate school supplies can do so by dropping them off at the Blaine school district office during business hours or at the Family Services Center between 9 a.m. and noon on Monday, August 30. Supplies needed include pencils, pencil top erasers, glue sticks, colored pencils, washable colored markers, pencil pouches and boxes, scissors, binders (1 1/2 and 2 inch), filler paper, spiral notebooks, journals, and medium and large backpacks.
