Blaine sailor to speak at Seattle Boat Show Jan. 21

Local sailor Curt Epperson will be presenting a talk entitled “Cruising the Sunshine Coast” at the upcoming Seattle Boat Show.

Epperson’s presentation is a guided tour of the British Columbia Sunshine Coast featuring photos, charts, and local knowledge for visiting the area about 20 miles north of Vancouver.  Epperson includes tips and hints for visiting the town of Gibsons, Smuggler Cove, Secret Cove, Blind Bay, the Harmony Islands, Sturt Bay, and Jedediah Island. Epperson covers child and pet friendly harbors and parks, border crossing and customs check-in, tides and currents, anchoring, and other subjects. He will also show how to prepare a cruise notebook for your trip.

“Cruising the Sunshine Coast” will be presented in the Seattle Boat Show's Green Room three times at 5:30 p.m. Friday, January 21; 4:30 p.m. Saturday, January 22; and 11:30 a.m. Sunday, January 23.

Epperson, who serves as judge advocate on the Semiahmoo Yacht Club’s board of directors, has sailed Pacific Northwest waters for decades. He is the author of the book “Keeping Your Boat Legal”  and the publisher of the “Keeping Your Boat Legal Vessel Documents and Information Manual.” He is also the author and publisher of, as well as author of an assortment of Internet cruising articles.

These books will be sold at special prices during the Seattle Boat Show. “Keeping Your Boat Legal,” normally priced at $19.95 will be available for $14.95 while the workbook “Keeping Your Boat Legal Vessel Documents and Information Manual” will be available for $14.70, instead of $22.95.
