This Tuesday, the Blaine school district will host a public forum to discuss the budget challenges the district will face for the 2011/2012 school year.
The forum will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, in the Blaine middle school cafeteria. District staff and school board members will present and discuss preliminary considerations for specific program reductions.
The district could have to make up $1.2 million in funds, depending on how much the state legislature decides to cut from the state education budget.
Superintendent Ron Spanjer said the district’s proposed budget reductions are taking a worst-case approach at least until the state finalizes a budget in May or June.
Staff will host another public budget forum from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 18.
