One of Andrea Green’s favorite jobs out of college was working with the Southern Sierra Boys & Girls Club in Ridgecrest, California.
Although she had worked at various other non-profits after that, including the Owens Valley Career Development Center in Bishop, California, she said she missed working with youth the most.
So when Green heard there was a job opening at the club’s Blaine branch, she applied.
“We were looking for good opportunities for my family and the Boys & Girls Club was something I enjoyed doing,” she said. “I think their mission is fabulous, and it’s good for the kids.”
Green added that Washington’s reputation for having quality schools was also a plus. And, since moving here, she has enjoyed the area’s unique culture.
“We like how there is a ton of community support here and that there are so many caring people who really take the time to be involved with youth,” she said.
Green said this year she plans to bring back long-time club programs with new features added to them as well as more events for young adults in Blaine.
During the school year, the club is open weekdays from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and from 2:30 to 6 p.m.
