A stormwater improvement project is planned for Charel Terrace, and the Birch Bay Watershed and Aquatic Resource Management District (BBWARM) is holding a public informational meeting about it.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 9, at Fire Station 62 on Semiahmoo Parkway. Representatives from BBWARM and Whatcom County Public Works will be on hand to answer questions about the stormwater improvement project.

The project, slated to begin in late summer, will redirect stormwater flows on Charel Drive, add swales to remove pollutants from stormwater and increase pipe capacity to reduce the chances of flooding. The specific work area will include Charel Drive, Cary Lane and Oertel Drive.

Fire station 62 is at 9001 Semiahmoo Parkway in Blaine. For more information on the meeting or the stormwater improvement project, contact Kraig Olason at county public works at 360/715-7450 ext. 50782 or at kolason@co.whatcom.wa.us.
