A fish and chips fund-raising dinner Saturday will benefit a Blaine high school graduate with brain tumors.

Nicki’s Diner in Blaine will donate all proceeds from orders of fish and chips on Saturday, May, 21, to help Heather Earl, 23, and her family pay for medical bills that weren’t covered by her insurance. Diners will also have the chance to bid on three Worldmark resort vacation packages ranging from a seven night-stay on the Oregon coast to a six-night stay in Anaheim, California, with a trip to Disneyland.

Earl was born and raised in Blaine and graduated from Blaine high school. At the age of 21, she moved to Purcellville, Virginia, to be near her mother.

After experiencing some numbness on her left side earlier this year, doctors found two tumors in the right parietal lobe of her brain. Her mother said because one of the tumors was growing rapidly, it could not be removed completely, and extensive chemotherapy is required.

Those unable to attend can also bid on the vacation packages by emailing or by calling 360/332-4257. Bids must be received by midnight, Wednesday, June 15.

Nicki’s Diner will be selling fish and chips from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The restaurant is located at 1700 Peace Portal Drive and can be reached by calling 360/332-9400.
