Blaine City Council unanimously approved plans for the Grandis Pond development, which could substantially increase the number of homes in the city of Blaine.

Council voted at its May 23 to approve a plan laying out how the project can develop. The project, when fully built, will include 885 single-family house lots, 128 multi-family apartments, 48,000 square feet of commercial space and 240 acres of parks and habitat areas.

The 438-acre project is located in east Blaine between H Street and the U.S./Canadian border. Landowners expect the initial phase of the project to be done in 10 years. The final build out could take 20 years.
