Blaine resident Bethany Gattis recently opened Bellissima Skin Care and Spa Boutique in Loomis Hall at 288 Martin Street, suite 105.

Bellissima offers a variety of skin treatments and services, manicures, beauty products such as Colorescience mineral makeup, USDA-certified organic Seaflora seaweed skincare products from Vancouver Island, and Comfort Zone and Davines hair care from Italy.

Gattis has worked in salons and as a representative for several skincare lines for the past 11 years. She grew up in various cities in the Pacific Northwest and earned her massage therapy certificate in 2000 from Fort Smith School of Massage in Arkansas. In 2004, she studied esthetics at the Aveda Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After earning her license, she moved to Oregon and worked for an Aveda salon as an esthetician and manager, but found she wanted to do more. In 2009, Gattis returned to Aveda Institute to earn her certificate to teach esthetics.

She moved from Oregon to Bellingham, and then Gattis and her fiancé, Brian Hall, moved to Blaine after he was hired to work at Black Forest Steakhouse, which is scheduled to open later this month.

In addition to a variety of facials, Bellissima offers hot stone and aromatherapy treatments, full body waxing, brow and lash tinting and wedding makeup applications.

Gattis will also be selling handmade chocolates from Moonstruck Chocolatier and hosting regular monthly ladies nights beginning Friday, July 29.

“Women can come and practice makeup applications, enjoy wine and just hang out with their friends and have a good time,” she said.

Bellissima is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday or by appointment. An hour-long introductory facial special is $49 and includes a foot soak, exfoliation, mask application, shoulder and neck massage, aromatherapy and mini-makeup application.

Gattis has scheduled a grand opening event featuring hors d’oeuvres, product specials and giveaways from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 8.
