Happy birthday month, America, from the Blaine Senior Center. Let us always be mindful of our wonderful American heritage. We are thankful for our freedom, but we must remember the responsibility it requires.

As we pledge our allegiance to our flag, we remember that we are pledging support to our beloved country and to the ideals of personal freedom and justice for all. Patriotism consists of our continuous striving to make our country a good country as well as strong.

Independence Day was celebrated at the center with a festive pancake breakfast and an active food booth in downtown Blaine. Everybody is anticipating a great July, in a great center with many interesting activites and opportunities for service. The following are a few of the special events:

July 19: Tour Don Stagg’s impressive and extensive collection of pianos and organs. Sign up now!

July 26: Foot care from 9 and 11:30 a.m.; make an appointment. Also tour Appel Farms to see cheesemaking and visit their retail store.

July 28: Picnic at Peace Arch Park. Al Ulrich Country Music and Yodeling, 10:30 a.m. bocce ball and lunch at 11:30 a.m. in the park.
