Hundreds of cyclists will be taking to Whatcom County roads Saturday, July 30, for the fifth annual Tour de Whatcom bike ride, and motorists should drive with caution.

Cyclists will be riding from Bellingham through Ferndale, Birch Bay, Blaine and Lynden on the looping route that also includes points east. Cyclists will be present on Grandview Road, Birch Bay Drive, Harborview Road, Drayton Harbor Road, Peace Portal Drive, H Street, Odell Street, Sweet Road, Haynie Road, Valleyview Road and Birch Bay-Lynden Road. Visit www.tourdewhatcom.com/tourmap for specific route information.

Registration is still open for the event, and routes range from 25 to 105 miles. Registration fees are $30 for the 25-mile ride, $40 for the 50-mile ride and $50 for the 105-mile ride, with a $10 surcharge for day-of registration. After expenses, 100 percent of the proceeds from ride fees and riders’ pledges support Whatcom County charities.
