Whatcom County staff have released a list of vacancies on the county’s various boards and committees that provide advice on specialized topics to the Whatcom County Council.
The county has 18 vacancies across eight boards and committees. Each position is appointed by the county council, but interested parties must first fill out an application.
Many of the boards and committees are location specific, such as the Birch Bay Shellfish Protection District Advisory Committee, which has one vacancy. The advisory committee, which generally meets every other month, advises the county council on any proposed actions or operations relating to the restoration of water quality in the Birch Bay Shellfish Protection District, which stretches from Birch Point south to Point Whitehorn and east to the Lake Terrell area. Applicants must have a direct interest in the district.
For more information on each board or committee and how to apply, visit the county’s boards and commissions website at www.co.whatcom.wa.us/boards/boards.jsp or call 360/676-6690.
